Chuck Schumer thought he could hand-pick Maine’s Senate nominee from Washington.
He recruited Gov. Janet Mills. He endorsed her campaign. He touted her as a centerpiece of Democrats’ plan to win back the Senate. Now Mills has dropped out before the primary even happened, after her campaign flatlined, while Our Revolution-backed Graham Platner surged ahead.

Even Senate Democrats are asking the obvious question: Why did Schumer push so hard for a candidate voters clearly weren’t excited about?
The answer is simple. Washington insiders still think they can override the grassroots and decide who deserves to run. That strategy keeps failing – which is why we need to send Schumer a clear message today: stay out of the primaries!
Will you add your name now to tell Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee: Stay out of Democratic primaries and let voters decide?
This isn’t just about Maine. Schumer and the party establishment are still trying to shape contested primaries across the country, including key Senate races in Michigan and Iowa, by backing corporate-friendly candidates and encouraging super PACs to flood primaries with outside money. Too often, the candidates with the strongest grassroots support are treated like obstacles instead of the future of the Democratic Party.
Right now in Michigan, Our Revolution-backed Abdul El-Sayed is neck-and-neck in the Democratic Senate primary against Haley Stevens – the AIPAC-backed, Schumer-supported favorite of party insiders.
36% of voters are still undecided. That means this race is wide open. But the establishment is already working to tip the scales before voters have a real chance to decide for themselves. That’s not how we build the kind of movement powerful enough to defeat Republicans, take back Congress, and deliver for working people.
Maine should be a wake-up call. Schumer’s preferred candidate collapsed because voters want something different. The Democratic establishment is out of touch – and if they keep interfering in primaries, they’ll keep alienating the very voters Democrats need to win.
Our Revolution was built to challenge this exact kind of insider politics. We believe Democratic VOTERS should choose Democratic nominees.
If you agree, add your name today and demand that Chuck Schumer and the DSCC stay out of Democratic primaries once and for all.
We’re tired of watching billionaires and super PACs drown out grassroots campaigns. And we’re tired of party leaders ignoring the energy and ideas coming from the people doing the organizing, knocking the doors, and building the movement from the ground up. So let’s change it.
When we organize, we win.
Our Revolution
