I am writing to ask you to make a $2.70 contribution to our campaign ahead of tonight’s fundraising deadline. Please give me a chance to explain why this request is so important.

The truth is, one of the reasons we did so well in last night's debate is because we told the truth.

In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a contribution to our campaign. I hope you will give me a chance to explain why this request — especially after last night's debate — is so important.

The truth is, one of the reasons we did so well in last night's debate is because we told the truth.

We told the truth about a reality in which almost all of the wealth and income in this country is going to the top 1 percent.

We told the truth about the greed of the insurance and pharmaceutical industries that is literally killing Americans and bankrupting millions more.

We told the truth about a fossil fuel industry that happily accepts short-term profits in exchange for destroying our planet.

We told the truth about corporate America that doesn't give a damn about the working people of this country.

And we told the truth about the only way to take on these very powerful interests: by building a grassroots movement of millions of Americans who are willing to fight for a government that works for all of us and not just the 1 percent.

That is what this campaign is about. Because I cannot do this alone. And that is why I have to ask:

Can you make your first $2.70 contribution before our July fundraising deadline comes to a close at midnight tonight? I would not ask if it were not so important.

I am not just running to defeat the most dangerous president in our history — one who is a racist, a sexist, and a homophobe.

I am running to transform this country and to stand with the working class of America.

And if we're in this fight together, we are going to win.

For the first 45 minutes of last night's debate, the CNN moderator and most of the candidates on the stage peppered Bernie with Republican talking points about our Medicare for All bill.

They tried to tell Bernie what was in his bill.

Well Bernie wrote the damn bill.

When we are in the White House what we are going to do is guarantee health care as a right to every man, woman and child in this country. We are going to make sure no one goes into a doctor with an illness or injury and comes out bankrupt.

We are going to create a health care system that works for all Americans, not just a handful of insurance and pharmaceutical executives.

That's what's in the damn bill.

On this campaign, we are taking on an entire ecosystem of people and corporations who profit from a dysfunctional health care system.
