As polling places prepare to close across the country, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Donald Trump is getting desperate. And a desperate Trump is dangerous.
He and his cronies have been laying the groundwork to undermine the results of this election for months. They’re repeating baseless claims about widespread noncitizen voting. They’re threatening to prosecute election officials, filing lawsuits to restrict the counting of disputed ballots, and trying to interfere with the certification of results.
In Alaska, Trump's Justice Department has even sued to try to prevent the state from certifying its Senate race if the Republican incumbent loses by a narrow margin. And when asked whether the Justice Department might intervene in state election certifications, Attorney General Todd Blanche refused to rule it out.
This is happening before we even know who won.
We don't know what Trump will try next. But we know he's willing to use every lever of power at his disposal to protect himself. That's why we need to be ready.

The coming hours and days will be critical. Many states won't have complete results tonight, especially in close races. Trump and his allies could use those delays to manufacture suspicion, challenge legitimate results, and pressure election officials not to do their jobs.
